DUSTDELUXE: Tactile and Visual Use of Materials

DUSTDELUXE is based in Brussels and led by the creative experimentation and work by Damien Gernay.  The work is richly beautiful, wanting to be touched, explored, and kept in a personal collection for many years.  The furniture pieces are modern, influenced by nature, and introspective.

Textured Sideboard:  this piece is truly a work of art.  The artist and designer demonstrates courage in his use of the dripping faux finish, especially since it occurs on a beautifully made sideboard.  This piece was allowed to evolve, but not overly manipulated.  While the faux finish is only on one side, it certainly is not an accent and takes center stage.

The beauty in the faux finish is seen up close.

Nature Synthetique:  The influence of nature is highly evident in this piece.  See the close up below for the rich, vibrant detail and the unexpected use of the high gloss lacquer.

The green is so bright it looks like moss ... encased in lacquer, it appears timeless.

Barnum:  I love the asymmetry and softness in this piece.

See the interesting attention to detail in this close up.
