Modern Colors: Black

I've recently started using black in my own and client's interiors and I can tell you this, it is an amazing choice for an interior paint color.  Use correctly as in the photos below, it works with white and accent colors beautifully.  Try chalkboard paint for a truly matte finish, or Black Satin, 2131-10 by Benjamin Moore.

Some of the above colors have a little gray in them and almost read as a neutral with color. They flow seamlessly, as well as, allow the accent colors to shine.  Considere the green and blue tones by Farrow and Ball, such as Green Blue, Teresa's Green, and Pale Powder.  Martha Stewart is a great source, such as Morning Fog or Spring Melt, and Timothy Hay.

EARTH MEETS GLAMOUR IN THESE DESIGN PALETTES

Such beauty found here in the earth tones and the drop dead gorgeous blue floor, Bardiglio Imperial Tuscan Marble ... the incredible organic bust sculpture is by Alberto Viani.

Another shot of this art collector's home, Guja DuChene De Vere shows exquisite tastes in not only design, but art.  The plaster sculpture is by Fausto Melotti.

This room is beautifully done with the earthy design palette using gray on the wall and what looks to be concrete floors.  The lighter tone drapery lightens the space.  This room is cozy and beautiful.

COLOR PALETTES AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Brilliant ideas and inspiration are at your fingertips for design color palettes such as those found in nature, shelter magazines and photographs. Don't hesitate to copy (or rather compliment) someone else's keen creative eye.  See these beautiful palettes below:

LOVE LOVE the Anthropologie catalogs for inspiration and ideas when thinking of color palettes for my projects. Their visual merchandisers and editors are simply brilliant. See below:

Wood tones, white, classic materials, such as the marble tabletop and a splash of canary yellow.  Nice.

Hints of the Mediterranean with sand, white-washed surfaces, sky blue, and a splash of yellow.

Can't you just see this palette of materials and finishes in your kitchen?  Wood-veneer cabinetry, with a Caeserstone countertop in sand tones and hints of white tableware + natural tones and greenery, which just brings life to this vignette.

See below:  off-white or stone color on walls and cabinetry, with accents in color.  This is so easily achieved in any kitchen.
